Christmas is here again

This song never fails to remind me of what Christmas really means. In its simplicity it brings to our attention the very essence of why the Lord Jesus had to come to this earth as a a baby born in a manger. It was not a beginning of a fairy tale that Christmas is so often portrayed to be, rather is was to pave the way to a terrible scene on Calvary. The Lord God himself, dying to save sinful men. Why did he do it? did He have to go through all the sorrow and pain? Certainly not. He only did it out of a willing and loving heart.

The heart that poured out love incessantly, blind men watched but could not see.
Would we likewise true life forsake, this mistake Lord help us never to make.

Climb to a hill top and look as far as your eyes can see, sit by the sea side and hear the waves of the mighty sea crashing on to the sea shores, lie under a tree and feel the cool breeze kissing your face while the birds chirp in harmony with nature's sounds.

It is not until we stop and see, listen and feel that we are able to fully grasp our place in the vast masterpiece of God's creation. It is when we understand the magnitude of things that surround us, that the many questions of why's seem to be muted by the magnificence of the Lord himself.

I have been to the US when I was at a very young age, but it was so long ago and I was so young that I barely remember what I saw and did there. So I always wanted to visit the US again, just to experience it once more.

Now I have a chance, I will be going to Grand Rapids, Michigan for a business trip. It may not be the most appropriate of times, since it is winter and Grand Rapids is way up north on the map. But I guess I should be able to survive the cold (I hope). Anyway there will be so much to do, I will be meeting up with president Obama, playing basketball with Jordan, attending business meetings with Steve Jobs on the next iphone, and if I have some time left, I might just make it to visit Bill Gates and his family................... Yes, that is all nonsense, I will be doing none of those. The only thing that I would be doing is reading source codes in front of my laptop and programming my way back home. Well probably not that sad of a schedule, but business trips have usually been very busy for me and hopefully this time I will get some time of to visit some places.

So before I head off to the US, I better get myself well prepared. Hmmm... lets see, I just need to find a book on northern American accent... TO-MAE- TO... PO-TAE-TO......

Goodbye Sony, Hello Steelcase

I am now officially a Steelcase employee. No, the company does not sell steel, Steelcase manufactures and sells office furniture. And no I do not design the furniture, I am a Application Developer in the IT department. Although starting off in the company with an injured arm isn't exactly my idea of a good first impression (not to mention having to postpone the training in HQ due to my slow healing process), over all it was a smooth transition.

People are friendly, the working environment is great, and I get two wide screen monitors to myself....yahoooooo!

And of course, thanks to Pei yee, I have a nice coaster to put my cup =)

Its been 2 weeks since I injured my elbow, and it has been really inconvenient now that I have only one hand to do everything. People often say you don't realize how important something is until you lose it. Well, I couldn't agree more. Although this might be temporary, but it has really helped me to appreciate a little bit more on things that I often take for granted.

In the society we live in today, luxury very often gets mistaken as necessity. And when those conveniences get taken away, you can't help but to be a little frustrated. I miss sports, I miss cooking / baking / eating with two hands greedily, I miss driving around, I miss sleeping on my face flat on my bed and I definitely miss taking a proper shower. The list could go on, but then again why should it?

Despite the inconvenience, I find so many things to be thankful for. I use to hurry to get things done without much thought, now I learn to be patient. I use to eat a lot... really a lot, and now I have to eat less (due to lack of exercise). I use to wake up late to do last minute morning prep, now I need to wake up early. Also there are so many people that I can be thankful for. My family who had to put up with my "disability". Brothers and sisters in church who offered their help wherever they can. Especially Pei Yee who is almost like the extra arm to me all this while. From driving me everywhere to getting my right arm cleaned, even to helping me finish this blog design. Thank you all so so much.

I should be in this cast for at least another two more weeks, and I am sure God has a good purpose for it. Has this been a blessing in disguise? No... I think it has been a blessing ever since it happened.
